Sustainability
Sustainability at Cooperstown Bed & Breakfast
We believe small, thoughtful choices can make a meaningful difference. As stewards of a historic home and property, we aim to operate the inn in ways that respect both the environment and our local community.
Energy & Efficiency
Our historic Queen Anne home has been updated with energy-efficient systems where possible. Solar panels help offset a portion of the property's electricity use, and LED lighting is used throughout the house to reduce energy consumption.
Water Conservation
We encourage guests staying multiple nights to reuse towels and linens when possible to reduce water and energy use. Rain collection buckets on our downspouts help provide water for the garden and outdoor plants.
Waste Reduction & Recycling
We actively recycle glass, paper, cardboard, and metal. Food scraps from the kitchen are composted or shared with our chickens, helping reduce food waste. We minimize single-use items whenever possible and use reusable dishes and serviceware for breakfast.
Disposable items are available upon request when needed for guest convenience, but we avoid Styrofoam and unnecessary plastic whenever possible.
Local & Responsible Food Sourcing
Breakfast often features ingredients sourced locally when available, including herbs from our garden and eggs from our chickens. Cooking to order helps reduce food waste while allowing us to prepare meals thoughtfully for each guest.
